Kerlly has been passionate about movement for as long as she can remember. She has a background in numerous physical modalities. As a child she trained in competitive gymnastics in Ecuador. After moving to the United States at 10 years old she became a scholarship student at The Wooden Floor in Santa Ana, CA. There, she trained in ballet and modern dance including the Martha Graham technique, in addition to African dance, and was also introduced to Pilates as pre-class conditioning. While in high school she was a cheerleader later teaching for the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA). She is an avid salsa/bachata dancer, longtime yoga student and most recently became an aerialist learning Lyra hoop. She has always sought out disciplines that challenge both body and mind. Yet throughout all these experiences, Pilates has remained the backbone — the practice that provided the stability, strength, and flexibility to support everything else she pursued. Her Pilates journey really began as a teenager at the Backhaus Dance Intensive in Orange, CA, where the method immediately resonated with her, offering a deeper sense of body control and balance. Inspired to share this work, she completed her BASI Mat certification at The Wooden Floor, hosted under Rael Isacowitz. While studying at Boston University, she was blessed to embark on a classical training in the Romana lineage under the generous mentorship of Julie Erickson at Endurance Pilates, becoming a 4th generation classical pilates instructor. From there, she earned her PMA® CPT certification and taught at Equinox in Downtown Los Angeles. She has also taught at the Pilates Loft in Virginia while living in Washington, D.C.

In addition to her Pilates career, Kerlly is a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) and continues to work locally in the field of anesthesia. Her extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, combined with her lifelong dedication to movement, shapes a teaching style that is precise, encouraging, and uniquely her own. Kerlly founded Body Contrology Lab out of both passion and necessity. Seeing that Jupiter, FL lacked a classical Pilates studio fully equipped with Gratz™ apparatus, she was inspired to create a dedicated space where authentic Pilates could flourish in her community. She continues to deepen her own practice by continuing to expand her knowledge under the guidance of other classical teachers and attending workshops with master teachers. She loves to explore ways of implementing pilates principles to her favorite activities. Through her studio, Kerlly is committed to guiding students to find the method in their own bodies and work towards refined posture, balanced strength, and graceful gait — honoring Joseph Pilates’ original vision while fostering a welcoming community that celebrates movement and mindful living.

Classical Pilates

Today, the word “Pilates” is widely used, but the method itself has often been reinterpreted, diluted, or adapted into fitness trends that stray far from its origins. The classical Pilates community is committed to staying true to the teachings of Joseph Pilates, passed down directly through his protégé Romana Kryzanowska in addition to other elders. At Body Contrology Lab, we do everything we can to honor that legacy and preserve the integrity of the method. One of the most important ways we uphold authenticity is through the apparatus itself. Joseph Pilates designed his equipment with precise dimensions, angles, and resistance to achieve specific results in the body. By working on apparatus built to those original specifications, students are able to experience the method as it was intended. Our studio is equipped with Gratz™ apparatus and features some archival pieces by Pilates Designs. Body Contrology Lab proudly houses a complete classical studio, offering every piece of apparatus envisioned by Joe. This includes the Cadillac, Reformer, Wunda chair, Electric chair, Guillotine, Baby chair, Toe Corrector, Foot Corrector, Spine Corrector, among others. Each apparatus serves a unique purpose, guiding students back to their Powerhouse — the deep center of strength and stability that underlies all Pilates practice.

The name Body Contrology Lab is an homage to Joseph Pilates himself. He originally called his method Contrology — the art and science of using the mind to master the body. The word Lab was chosen to emphasize the learning aspect of our studio: that this work never ends, there is always more to uncover, and it is truly a lifelong practice. Much like a laboratory, this is a place for exploration and discovery — where students are invited to dig deeper, test their limits, and explore just how far their bodies can go. Even those who consider themselves strong and fit are often surprised by the level of challenge it brings. Nonetheless, it also has plenty of lessons for those new to movement or recovering from injury. The journey is demanding, but it is also deeply rewarding. With every session, students uncover new strength, refined posture, and a sense of lightness — moving step by step toward a more balanced, resilient, and capable version of themselves.

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old; if it is completely flexible at 60, you are young.”
